Preview: Delete a payment

Deleting a payment is a definitive and restricted operation. It is only possible in one specific case: a payment manually entered by an administrator who made a mistake. All other payments (online, donation kiosk, automatic import) must go through a refund.

When can I delete a payment?

Payment sourceDeletion possible?
Manual (admin entry)βœ… Yes
Online (Stripe, PayGreen, PayPal…)❌ No β€” use the refund
Donation kiosk❌ No β€” use the refund
Tap-to-Pay❌ No β€” use the refund
Software (automatic import)❌ No β€” unmatch the entry in the bank reconciliation tool

Deletion procedure

  1. 1

    Locate the payment

In the payments list, find the payment to delete.

  2. 2

    Check that deletion is possible

Open the Edit menu (pencil icon). If the Delete the payment option appears, then it is indeed a manual payment.

If the option doesn't appear β†’ the payment is not deletable, see Refund a payment.

  3. 3

    Click 'Delete the payment'

    A confirmation window is displayed.

  4. 4

    Read the warnings

The window tells you the consequences:

    • The payment will be permanently erased
    • The associated tax receipt (if it exists) will be canceled
    • Linked pledges, funds or campaigns will see their balance recalculated
    • The operation is irreversible
  5. 5

    Confirm the deletion

Click on Confirm deletion. The payment disappears from the list, and all linked entities are updated.

Consequences of deletion

After deletion of a payment, Unisoft automatically propagates the changes:

  • βœ… Contact history: the payment entry disappears
  • βœ… Donation pledge (if attached): the remaining balance increases by the deleted amount
  • βœ… Campaign / Fund / Booklet: statistics are recalculated
  • βœ… Tax receipt (if it existed): canceled and recorded in the list of canceled receipts of the tax declaration
  • βœ… Budget booklet (if attached): the balance is adjusted
