Auctions for aliyot and honors

For:Administrator

The Auction module manages the sale of Torah aliyot and honors for your community. It must be available to your organization and enabled in its settings before you offer sales on the website.

Prepare a saleโ€‹

Create the sale with a name, an occasion of your choice, and a closing time. Add the lots and their order, and the day and prayer service where needed. You can start from a template.

A lot can be auctioned or sold at a fixed price with multiple shares. Depending on its mode, set the starting bid, reserve price, buy-now option, or sealed bidding. Cohen/Levi restrictions use information from the contact record.

Settings define suggested amounts, extensions after late bids, name visibility, and the rule for awarding lots. Closing takes the start of Shabbat into account; check your organizationโ€™s location and time.

Publish and monitorโ€‹

Use the congregantsโ€™ page to check the sale before sharing its link. You can customize the URL and sharing information. A published sale is accessible only when the module is enabled.

You can view bids and a lotโ€™s history, bid on behalf of a congregant, or sell a share at the desk. Withdrawing a bid requires a reason and remains visible in the history.

Decide the resultsโ€‹

Lots that have not reached their reserve price, or that require your approval, await a decision in the results. You can award them or leave them unsold. For sales held at the synagogue, enter the winner and amount after the holiday.

Awarding a lot creates the corresponding donation pledge. Check its status before reminding the winner. You can specify whom the winner gives the honor to; this beneficiary appears on the gabbaiโ€™s sheet.

Reassigning a lot to the next bidder cancels the relevant award and notifies the new winner. A payment already allocated to the pledge can prevent cancellation: check the payment before making changes.
