Preview: Search for a payment

A donor calls you and asks you to verify a payment, a bank inquires about a collection, or you're looking for the details of a specific transfer: search is your fastest entry point. This page lists the different methods to find a payment and explains which to use depending on the context.

Three search entries

Search by donor (the most common)

This is the method to use in 90% of cases.

  1. 1

    Open the payments list

    Finance sidebar β†’ Payments.

  2. 2

    Click in the search bar

At the top of the table, the Search a contact field is immediately visible.

  3. 3

Type the beginning of the name

Enter at least 3 characters (e.g. "Coh" for Cohen). The autocomplete suggests matching contacts.

  4. 4

    Select the contact

Click on the right result. The list filters instantly on all payments of this donor.

Special case: homonyms

If multiple contacts have a similar name (for example two LΓ©vy families), the autocomplete list displays the email to distinguish. Choose the one matching your donor.

Search by Unisoft internal identifier

Each payment has a unique internal identifier displayed in the detail panel. It's useful to:

  • Find a payment from an email exchange where the support team shared the ID
  • Reproduce a specific payment when calling Unisoft support
  • Reference a payment in an internal document
  1. 1

    Spot the identifier

In the payment detail panel, Payment origin section, Internal identifier line.

  2. 2

Paste the identifier in the search bar

The list filters immediately on this unique payment.

Search by external platform reference

When a donor gives you their transaction reference (e.g. ch_3OqP2bL... on Stripe), you can find it in Unisoft.

PlatformTypical reference format
Stripepi_..., ch_..., py_...
PayGreenAlphanumeric UUID
PayPalLong numeric identifier
GoCardlessPM... or MD...
CardcomTransaction number

The external reference is visible in the payment detail panel, Payment origin section.

Search from a contact profile

If you're already on a donor's profile, don't go to the Payments module: the Payment history block is directly available.

  1. 1

    Open the contact profile

Contacts module β†’ search Sarah Cohen β†’ open her profile.

  2. 2

    Payments tab

All payments of the contact are listed from the most recent to the oldest.

  3. 3

    Click on a payment

    The detail opens directly.

Search by amount and approximate date

When you no longer remember the donor, but you have an order of magnitude:

  1. 1

    Open the filters

Filters button on the left of the list.

  2. 2

    Enter an amount range

    Amount filter β†’ Minimum 1,750 € β†’ Maximum 1,850 € (for a donation of about 1,800 €).

  3. 3

    Restrict the date

Date filter β†’ probable period (e.g. April – May 2026).

  4. 4

    Browse the dozen results

You identify the right payment visually.

Combine search and filters

You can chain search by contact + technical filters. Example:

  • Search: Sarah Cohen
  • Method filter: Check
  • Date filter: Current year

You get: all checks paid by Sarah Cohen this year. See Filter my payments.

Click on the cross in the search field. The contact is deselected but the filters remain active.
