Preview: Assign a booklet to Business Units

In a multi-Business Unit organization (several teams, departments or distinct activities), you can assign a booklet to one or several Business Units to facilitate filtering, delegation and thematic reports.

What is a Business Unit?

A Business Unit is a logical subdivision of your organization: Youth Business Unit, Talmud Torah Business Unit, Works Business Unit, Hospital Chaplaincy Business Unit, etc.

Unlike an association (a separate legal entity), a Business Unit is internal: it is used to organize your work without creating a distinct accounting entity.

See Understand Business Units and organizations.

When does the Β« Business Unit Β» button appear?

The Business Unit button appears in the footer of a booklet card only if all of the following conditions are met:

ConditionDetail
Administrator profileYour account has the ADMIN type
At least one Business Unit configuredYour organization has defined at least one Business Unit in its settings
Eligible booklet typeThe booklet is of type Dedicated booklet, Fund, Campaign or Form

The button does not appear for the Main cash register (which is by nature transversal).

    Open the Budget module

In the sidebar, click on Budget.

  2. 2

Locate the card of the booklet to assign

Find the card in the grid.

At the bottom left of the card (in the footer), the Business Unit button opens a selection menu.

  4. 4

Select one or several Business Units

Check the Business Units to which you want to attach this booklet. You can select several if the booklet concerns several teams.

Typical use case

A large community with several teams

A synagogue manages:

  • A Talmud Torah Business Unit (children's classes)
  • A Youth Business Unit (teen activities)
  • A Works Business Unit (maintenance and renovations)
  • A Hospital chaplaincy Business Unit (visits to the sick)

Each Business Unit has its dedicated booklets:

Business UnitBooklet(s)
Talmud TorahBooklet "Book purchases", Booklet "Children's snacks"
YouthBooklet "Youth trip", Booklet "Rosh Hodesh activities"
WorksBooklet "Prayer hall renovation", Booklet "Air conditioning maintenance"
Hospital chaplaincyBooklet "Volunteer travel expenses"

The manager of each Business Unit can then filter only their booklets in their views and exports.

Modify or remove an assignment

To change the Business Units of a booklet, click again on the Business Unit button and adjust the boxes. To remove all assignment, uncheck all the Business Units.

The operation does not affect the booklet's history or its balance.

Special cases

No Business Unit configured in your organization

If your Unisoft account has no Business Unit, the Business Unit button does not appear on the cards. This is normal β€” you don't need to assign.

To configure Business Units, see the Info module.

You are not a main administrator

If your profile is not of type ADMIN, the button does not appear. Ask a main administrator to assign the booklet for you.

Fund or campaign created in a Business Unit

When a fund or a campaign is created from a Business Unit (via the corresponding module), it is automatically assigned to that Business Unit. You can modify the assignment if needed.
