Pause a subscription

Preview: Pause a subscription

Pausing temporarily freezes the automatic direct debits of a subscription, without deleting it. It is the ideal option when a donor is going through a financial difficulty, leaves on an extended trip, or you want to stop direct debits while waiting for a discussion with them.

When to use a pause?

    A confirmation window appears. Validate.

Immediate effect

As soon as confirmed:

  • βœ… The subscription's status moves to Paused (orange badge)
  • βœ… The subscription switches from the In progress tab to the Paused tab
  • βœ… The Unisoft nightly task will ignore this subscription and will no longer trigger any direct debit as long as it stays paused
  • βœ… The donor is not notified automatically (up to you to inform them if needed)

Automatic pause on refund

When you refund a payment from a subscription, Unisoft automatically offers to pause the subscription. Why?

To prevent a new direct debit happening right after the refund. Without a pause, the donor would receive a new direct debit a few weeks later, canceling out the refund's effect.

If you accept the proposal, the subscription is paused at the time of the refund. Up to you to reactivate it later, after agreeing with the donor.

Duration of a pause

There is no limit to the duration of a pause. A subscription can stay paused for years if needed. As long as it is not explicitly reactivated or canceled, it stays as is.

And then?
