Create an event group
The group is the starting point: before being able to create a dated session, you must have an event group (the "type"). This page details the procedure step by step.
When to create a new group?β
Create a new group when:
- You launch an unprecedented event type (first gala, first women's evening)
- You want to separate an existing event type (e.g.: distinguish "Weekly Shabbat" and "Family Shabbat")
Do not create a new group if you simply want to open this year's edition of an already existing event β instead create a new session in the existing group. See Create a session.
Procedureβ
- 1
Open the event types list
Go to
/app/pe/categories. This page lists all existing groups with, for each, the number of sessions and the available actions. - 2
Click Β«Create a new event typeΒ»
Blue button at the top right of the list. The form opens in a modal window.
- 3
Enter the internal name
The Event type name is used by you, in the admin list. Choose a generic and timeless name: "Passover", "Annual gala", "Weekly Shabbat". Avoid dated names ("Passover 2026").
- 4
Enter the public title (multilingual)
The Title is displayed to visitors on the public page. You can enter it in several languages via the language tabs at the top of the form (French by default, then English, Hebrew, Italian, Russian, Portuguese, German, Greek depending on the languages enabled by your organization β internal codes used:
fr,en,he,it,ru,pt,de,gr). - 5
Choose the mode
Two exclusive options:
- Independent events (default,
STANDALONEmode) β each session has its own public page. Ideal for galas, annual holidays, exceptional evenings. - Multi-session (
MULTI_SESSIONmode) β all sessions share a single public page with a selector. Ideal for weekly Shabbat, regular classes.
In case of doubt, consult Understanding groups and sessions.
- Independent events (default,
- 6
(Multi-session only) Add the common poster
If you chose Multi-session, two additional fields appear:
- Group poster β image used to present the group on the site (replaces the individual poster of each session)
- AI content block (page intro) β optional text displayed above the session selector
- 7
Validate
Click Validate. The group is created and appears in the list. A group accounting Booklet is created in parallel (see below).
If you have just created the group starting from a "Create a session" journey, a window opens automatically to chain the creation of the first session.
The group accounting Bookletβ
When a group is created, Unisoft automatically creates an accounting Booklet of group type bearing its name. This Booklet:
- Consolidates the budgets of all sessions of the group
- Allows seeing at a glance the cumulative turnover over several years (useful for an annual event like Passover)
- Is visible in the Budget module
You have nothing to configure: the Booklet is created, the budgets of each session come to be attached to it over time.
Modify an existing groupβ
From the list /app/pe/categories:
- Click Modify on the group's row.
- Modify the desired fields (title, image, content block).
- Validate.
Best practicesβ
| Topic | Recommendation |
|---|---|
| Naming | Give a timeless group name ("Annual gala", not "Gala 2026") |
| Multilingual | If you welcome international visitors, fill in the titles in all active languages β detection is automatic on the visitor side |
| Image | In multi-session mode, systematically provide a group poster (otherwise sessions inherit the default visual) |
| Description | The content block (multi-session) is the ideal opportunity to explain the general concept ("Every Friday, we host a festive Shabbatβ¦") |
