View of the 'birthday reminders' page

The Birthdays view is a specialized reading of the Reminders module, dedicated to birthdays of birth of contacts β€” Hebrew in priority.

Route: /app/rappels then view selector β†’ Birthdays

The context

Wishing a congregant a happy birthday is a simple gesture that creates a bond. For a community, it's also an opportunity:

  • To send a greeting card or a personalized message.
  • To offer a blessing at the closest Shabbat service.
  • To organize a Limoud or a Birkat HaGomel on a significant birthday (Bar/Bat Mitzvah, 60, 70, 80 years).

The Unisoft Birthdays view centralizes these dates and lets you anticipate.

Where the data comes from

The Birthdays view is automatically fed from the dates of birth entered on the contact profiles (Date of birth card of the Info tab).

You have nothing to enter manually in this view. For a contact to appear:

  1. Open their profile.
  2. Main Information tab β†’ Date of birth card.
  3. Enter the Gregorian or Hebrew date.

The Hebrew date is calculated automatically from the Gregorian date (and vice versa).

Anatomy of the page

The Birthdays view reuses the same framework as the other views of the Reminders module:

  1. Top bar: search by contact, view selector (Reminders / Hazkara / Birthdays).
  2. Central table: the list of birthdays.
  3. Global action: Export button (CSV).

The table columns

ColumnContent
Hebrew DateHebrew day and month of the birthday (e.g.: 14 Sivan). The year is not displayed β€” the birthday returns every year.
PersonLast name and first name of the contact concerned, clickable to open their profile.
Type of ReminderContact (standard birthday taken from the contact's profile) or Legacy System (entry inherited from a legacy import β€” rare).
Note / MessageFree text β€” empty for most standard birthdays. May contain an administrator note if configured.
StatusActive Notification (the birthday is tracked) or Silent (the contact asked not to be notified, or the notification was disabled for a particular reason).

Filter by contact

The Search a contact bar at the top left lets you isolate the birthdays of a specific person. Handy to check the Hebrew date of a congregant before sending a message.

CSV export

The Export button at the top right downloads the complete list in CSV format.

Format: export_rappels_DD_MM_YYYY_HH_mm.csv.

Typical uses:

  • Prepare a greetings sending campaign per month (see Create a message campaign).
  • Print the list for the Shabbat service.
  • Anticipate significant birthdays (Bar/Bat Mitzvah, jubilees).

Automatic greetings sending

Precise behavior:

  • Anti-duplicate: each greeting is tracked by a unique identifier (couple contact + Hebrew year). Once sent, it will not be resent a second time for the same year.
  • Trigger delay: by default, Unisoft starts sending 10 days before the date. This delay (and even several reminder stages) is configurable per organization via the RappelAnniv parameter on the configuration side β€” contact support if you want to adjust.
  • Child contact: if the contact has parents registered in Unisoft, the message goes to the parents with an adapted formula ("Sarah's Hebrew birthday will take place…").
  • Deactivation per contact: the Status column of the table (Active Notification / Silent) reflects the sending state. To suspend sending on a given contact, use the mute flag on the contact profile side.
  • Sending channel: type SMS_OU_EMAIL β€” Unisoft sends an SMS if the phone number is available, otherwise an email.

Going further: targeted greetings campaign

If you want to personalize the message (beyond the standard "Mazal Tov" template) or target a subset (Bar/Bat Mitzvah, jubilees, etc.), you can create a manual message campaign in addition:

  1. 1

    Consult the Birthdays view

Identify the people to congratulate for the current month.

  2. 2

    Create a temporary category

On the Contacts module, create a category like Sivan 5786 Birthdays and manually link the identified contacts to it (or use a saved advanced search if the category already exists).

  3. 3

    Launch a targeted campaign

Go to Message Campaigns (/app/messages/campagnes), create an email or SMS campaign, target the created category, write a personalized message (with the variables {{prenom}} and {{nom}}), send.

For the detail of this step, see Create a message campaign.

What the Birthdays view does not do

  • No modification from this view. To correct a contact's date of birth, open their profile and modify the Date of birth field in the Main Information tab.
  • No filter by age range in this view. To identify contacts who will turn 18 or 60, use the Advanced search of the Contacts module.

Special cases

  • Contact without date of birth: does not appear in this view. Think about completing the date in the profile so they are taken into account.
  • Gregorian date of birth only: the Hebrew date is calculated automatically. For births after sunset, adjust the Gregorian date by a day if you want the exact Hebrew date.
  • Significant birthday (Bar Mitzvah at 13 years old, Bat Mitzvah at 12 years old): the view does not display a particular indicator for these birthdays. Use the Advanced search of the Contacts module to identify them by age filter.
  • Deceased contact: no longer appears in the Birthdays view β€” the commemoration is managed in the Hazkara view.
